In 2005 Cynosure New Media was awarded a 5-year Blanket Purchase Agreement to provide multimedia support services to the DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) Special Projects Office. The BPA covers a myriad of multimedia products including: exhibit booth design/construction, video/animation services, branding/marketing literature, promotional products, and graphic/presentation production.
To prepare the winning proposal and serve the diverse needs of the DARPA Special Projects Office, Cynosure enlisted the services of its strategic partners: Squeegee Art Promotions, Exponents, Evolve Marketing Group, Blue Planet Studio, and Tricom Video.
Cynosure soon won its first contract under the BPA to provide physical model construction and animated videos needed to to depict how technology advancements in airship design, station keeping, and sensor payload can be used to improve the timeliness, persistence, and usefulness of surveillance platforms deployed over areas of interest.
Working with master model maker and set designer Jeff Van Gonka, Cynosure designed and produced two physical models depicting these futuristic airships. The designs were also rendered visually into approximately 8 minutes of high-end 3D animation, produced by Cynosure strategic partner Blue Planet Studios.
Converting futuristic concepts into high-tech visualization, these animations were used to support SPO and VSO exhibits on display at the 24 th DARPA Systems and Technology Symposium (DARPATech 2005) held at the Anaheim Marriott, Anaheim, CA, August 9 -11, 2005.
